That Internet Review is Fraudulent

You purchase goods and services based on site reviews. According to the New York attorney general, companies are engaged in creating fraudulent positive consumer responses.

There are companies focused on creating fabricated reviews on behalf of clients. The sophistication of these efforts is notable. These methods are comparable to Black Hat SEO in tactics and scope.

These fraudulent reviews appear on sites like Google, Yelp, Citysearch and Yahoo according to The New York Times. According to Eric T. Schneiderman, the New York attorney general, agreements were reached with 19 companies to cease their misleading practices. These 19 companies agreed to pay a total of $350,000 in penalties. In this scheme, employees, friends and third party companies fabricated reviews. These tasks had the sole goal of boosting the reputation and sales of these companies.

In addition to general shopping and search sites, fake reviews are likely also on Social Media pages. How do you make an informed purchase decision?
